About Martin Frith

Qualifications

I am a Clinical Fellow with the Ontario Division (OAMFT) of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and OAMFT and member of the Registry of Marriage and Family Therapists in Canada.

 

My academic background includes environmental studies (UWaterloo), Masters of Divinity (St. Michaels College, U of T) and graduate studies in Marriage and Family Therapy.

I have a background in healthcare having worked in acute, long term, and rehabilitation settings and over 25 years’ experience providing psychotherapy with individuals, couples and groups. In addition, I have held various roles including 15 years as bereavement coordinator for a funeral company and 10 years as the Client Support Coordinator at Dying With Dignity Canada. I now work exclusively in private practise and consulting.

 

Approach

My style is collaborative and integrates my training in various approaches. These include family systems training, emotion-focused, EMDR, and brief therapy. There is no one size fits all so I draw from what is most helpful for each client. I typically am active during the session and provide homework in between our sessions such as a task or focused reading. This helps to integrate new insights and behavioural changes into your everyday life and relationships.
